Planning

Overwhelmed???

Unlike places like Spain where it’s hotel – resort – beach, Florida does take a bit of planning. It’s a huge place with so much to see, do and cram in to those vacation days. With theme parks covering a big part of Orlando and beaches on every side of the state it’s easy to see why getting the most out of your vacation does require planning.

I am sure by now you have either booked your Florida getaway or are very close to doing so. That is great and is the first step..obviously!

So now for the planning…

You first of all have to know what it is you want to get out of your time away. Are you planning to have your whole stay in one place? Is it just theme parks on the agenda? Or are you wanting to throw in a bit of everything? Maybe explore? Deciding on that really should be your next step and you will find from there it makes it easier to plan and will take a little bit of that initial stress away.

Once you have decided you can really browse my site for lots more information.

Once you have made your plan of action you need to start thinking how you are going to get around. It needs to be known that not everything in Florida is close together. Orlando being an example of this. People automatically assume that Disney is right near by Universal when it fact it is easily over 10 miles away. Orlando also has one of the worst public bus services so this part of the planning is vital.

Getting around will give you a lot more guidance on this.

Once we have our holiday booked and have planned how we are going to get around we next start thinking about tickets. This part may be more aimed at you if you are planning to spend some to most of your days in the theme parks but there is more to Florida than this and you will find plenty of attractions and tours that are best to be bought in advance.

For this part of our planning we like to use UK Ticket sites. In fact we always buy our tickets before our Florida holiday. On the gate prices can be extortionate and you will find many great deals buying before you go.

At this point you will have an idea of how you want to spend your days in the Florida sun so buying tickets and booking tours should be pretty straight forward.

Next you should be thinking about spending money and how you plan to change your money in to US dollars and how you plan to carry it. For us we head straight for a prepaid card. Not only is it easy and convenient it’s also a safer way to carry money. We like to use the FairFX card. We do this from the comfort of our own home by loading it online, sending money straight from our bank to our prepaid card and having it changed into dollars. The great thing is we add money to it every time payday comes around and by the time our vacation is upon us we have a prepaid card full of our spending money. Once out there we can keep track of our spending by viewing our account online. It really is the best way to carry your dollars.

Now we have covered the most important parts of the planning the rest of what needs to be done will just come as the days to your vacation gets closer. We like to make an itinerary so we have a plan of action once we arrive. We are not strict in following this and do tend to change it once there but it gives us a guide and helps us make the most of our time there.  Making an itinerary is one of the biggest tips we give to people.

Also be sure to check out my blog which will give you hints, tips and show you our previous experiences.
