We only promote things we have personally used and love.
As a family we all love International Drive. There is something there for each of us and lots that we can do together as a family. We like to take a day out of our holiday to simply explore International Drive and visit the family friendly attractions. We have even in the past rode the I-ride up and down merely just for the sites of the 11 mile tourist strip.
One of our favourite things to do there is to have a family round of mini golf. We are a competitive family and one of us is bound to come away in tears but none the less we have fun and lots of laughs around the course. The one we visit most is pirates cove adventure golf. It’s in a perfect location as once we are done there is so many other things around it within walking distance that we can get to.
Voted the best course in Orlando its theming is striking and hole designs, inventive. Its designed for everyone to have the ultimate enjoyment.
Aside from the amusement of mini golf we have our top 10 list of favourite International Drive attractions.
- Dave and Busters
This is one of our families favoured places along International Drive. Us adults love it just as much as the kids. There is so much fun to be had inside and lots of arcade machines to not only play for fun but to win tickets from. The prize shop is pretty cool too and we have come away with some amazing things. For this one we advise checking out local coupons as we have had some brilliant offers out of them. We tend to visit this place when its either raining outside or we want to get away from the midday heat and each time we have visited we have always managed to work our way round the machines with no wait. This place also has a restaurant and bar so between playing games you can get a bite to eat.
- Orlando eye
I can still remember the first time I took a ride on the Orlando Eye. So scared I was literally daring myself to go on. I don’t know what I was expecting but once on it and up at the top I seemed to relax and started to enjoy it. I’ve done this now on every trip since the Eye opened and at different times of the day for the different experiences. Night time is by far my favourite time of the day to take a ride. Seeing the whole of Orlando lit up at night is just beautiful. We even got lucky and saw the Disney fireworks. Taking a ride in the daytime though is definitely where you will see more of Florida. On a clear day you can see straight to Cape Canaveral. With iPads for interactive viewing and music and narration on your trip around you will soon forget that your about to go 400 feet up. It really is a must do for all of the family.
We purchased our tickets before we left the UK from attraction tickets direct as they have a great price on a combination ticket which includes ICON Orlando (Orlando Eye), SEA LIFE and Madame Tussauds.
- Ripley’s believe it or not
This place cannot be missed along International Drive. Its quirky building really stands out! Filled with over 600 of the most bizarre finds from around the world and lots of interactive family fun it really is a great place to visit for a few hours. My children love how wacky it is and we found they learnt so much from the experience. Check out the local coupons before you visit here as many contain money off admission prices.
This really is an amazing place. There is so much inside to do and it is loved by not only the kids but also the adults. It is classed as an amusement park for the mind and it really is. Getting blown around by hurricane force winds, seeing what it’s like to experience an earthquake, landing a shuttle, lying on a bed of nails, flying a fighter jet and even creating and riding your own rollercoaster. My children had so much fun they didn’t want to leave. This place also features the outta control magic comedy dinner show where you will be supplied with unlimited pizza, salad, popcorn and drinks all while watching comedy performances full of lots of interaction and fun.
- Monkey Joes
I didn’t want to include this on my top 10 but my kids really love it. I suppose it does give us adults a break for a few hours. Its aimed at children 12 years and younger and its filled with all kinds of inflatables, obstacle courses and slides. It’s a play all day admission and my kids have so much fun there they really would allow me to let them stay all day. It’s a great place to go to if it’s raining outdoors or you just want a break from the parks but with this sort of experiences back home in the UK I am not going to rave too much about it.
- Helicopter tours
For this we used Air Florida helicopter inc and found them to be very reasonably priced. Never in a million years would you get me in a helicopter so my husband and our eldest took this tour while I sat from the sidelines and watched. They both said it was a great experience and our eldest asks year after year to take the tour again. Tours vary in length and price but you get to see most of Orlando from the sky and also have pictures with the helicopter and inside it. It really is a great experience to do but we found it was pretty busy and had a bit of a wait until it was our turn.
- Premium outlets
The premium outlets are my favourite place to visit on International Drive. I just LOVE them!! There are so many amazing bargains to be had and if you are there when it is an American holiday you will find that things are discounted even more. If you are into your designer brands then this really is the place for you. With a premium outlet on each end of International Drive make sure you take lots of spending money!
- Fun Spot
We as a family love it here. Although its filled with rides and attractions and resembles a mini theme park it is actually so laid back and we have never experienced any queuing. What’s best about this place is that you pay one admission price and can ride as much as you want for as long as you want. It also includes Gator Spot as part of the admission price and has a café with lots of amazing meal deals. We always make time to visit here and it is somewhere we love to recommend.
- Skeletons – museum of osteology
This is located right under the Orlando eye and we found it really intrigued us so decided to take a look. It is filled with over 500 skeletons of animals from all over the world. It is truly fascinating and very informative. We learnt a lot from walking round and my eldest really loved this place. With nearly all of the skeleton bones real you will be very impressed by this place. They even have a 2 headed calf!! A scavenger hunt is included with admission and their shop is very cool too.
- Titanic – the experience
Whether you have watched the titanic or not you will love this place. We mainly visited here because our son was greatly intrigued by the titanic after watching the film but we found we loved this exhibition just as much as he did. The experience feels so real with all the replica rooms and artifacts plus the staircase and the iceberg which you can touch to give a real feel for how cold it would have been once the ship hit into it. What we really loved was how you get given a passenger ticket where at the end you get to find out if you were one of the survivors. It really is a great experience.
Even if your staying away from International Drive plan to spend a few hours here. You will be impressed by what this tourist strip has to offer.
Attraction tickets are more often than not cheaper to buy in the UK compared to on the gate prices. Check out Attraction tickets direct for their full range of International Drive attractions.
